High Performance Living

As a academy owner I am acutely aware of my role in helping people achieve their success, being disciplined in action and learning to trust the process involved with all of it. As a husband and parent, the role manifests further; having the capability to protect and provide, offering focus and fulfilment and where necessary, empathy and explanation.

Jiu Jitsu, parenthood, entrepreneurship; they all require details, focus and authenticity and to be good, you can never lower the bar – it’s High Performance – because of this and all too often, we tend to forget to live our own lives, a life focused on health, longevity, with structure and purpose, one where we exceed our own expectations.

Away from the mats, there are disciplines in which I engage that permit me to live my best life and to perform in all areas to the fullest, these tools enable me (I hope) to live healthier for longer. They allow me to be present and being present is the keyhole to the good life. These approaches are low-hanging fruit – easy to find, implement and benefit from, meaning you can too.

Below you’ll find links to examples of my favourites, the supplemental disciplines that come together to form my ‘high performance habits’, all filled with credible information, peer-reviewed studies, and data-based research.

Read them, or don’t. Use them, or don’t; the choice is yours.

If you do, be selective, put yourself in a position of power; what you do in the shadows impacts the best of you, meaning there is no need to edit and create highlights, in this case, 1+1 doesn’t equal 2 – here, 1+1 equals 11.

You don’t need a race to be winning, just go out and live it. Go live your high-performance life.
